IPA Kolkata Chapter (IPA KoC) conducted a Seminar-cum-Panel Discussion on ‘Green Plumbing and its Relevance’ on 17th December 2009 at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata.
Mr. Sandip Kumar Roy Choudhury, Chairman – IPA KoC, initiated the Seminar with a welcome speech. The welcome address was followed by Presidential address by Mr Sudhakaran Nair, President – IPA & Executive Board Member - WPC. Mr Nair, in his address, talked of various initiatives undertaken by IPA as well as various milestones achieved by IPA, so far. Mr Nair also announced about the alliance between IPA and IAPMO-India with Jadhavpur University for PEEP. He also announced that next national convention on plumbing, i.e, 14th Indian Plumbing Conference will be held at Kolkata.
Following, Mr Nair’s speech was an address by Guest of Honour, Mr Pradeep Sureka, President of Confederation of Real Estate Developers Associations of India (CREDAI), Bengal Chapter. Mr. Sureka admitted that the plumbing is not given its due prominence and is often neglected. He welcomed Mr. Nair’s announcement of the 14th IPC and assured all support from CREDAI Bengal Chapter that comprises leading builders and architects.
Mr. Pradeep Chakravarti, Secretary of IPA KoC made a presentation on Green Plumbing and its Relevance. In his presentation, he deliberated about necessity of opting for green plumbing and water and energy efficient plumbing fixtures. Following this enlightening presentation was a speech by Mr. John Joseph, Managing Director & Principal Consultant – John Mech-El Technologies (P) Ltd, Mumbai. Mr Joseph shared with the audience the Strategic Plan of IPA for the financial year 2010-11 and various initiatives for
an awareness about good plumbing practices across the country.
Thereafter, there was a joint presentation by Mr Allen Inlow, Senior Director
of IAPMO Business and Product Development, USA and Ms Ranjini Venugopal. Mr Inlow talked of various
joint initiatives of IPA and IAPMO. He briefed about the joint initiative of IPA and GreenPlumbers-USA for launching Green Plumbers Training and Accreditation Programme and Green Plumbing Supplement Code India (GPSC-I).
There were sponsorial presentations by Mr R G Ankolekar, Asst. Vice President – Wilo and Mr Sandeep Engineer, Managing Director of Astral Polytechnik Ltd., respectively. Mr Kamal Khokhani, Director, Akar InfoMedia Pvt Ltd made a presentation on PlumbexIndia’10. He also appealed the audience to be a part of the third international plumbing show.
The seminar was concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Sibaji Roy, Vice Chairman, IPA KoC.
