A laboratory dedicated to the plumbing sector has been set up in the premises of the College of Engineering Pune. This is a joint venture of the Indian Plumbing Association and the College of Engineering Pune (CoEP).  It is meant to be helpful to engineering and architecture students and faculty, professionals and visitors from the construction industry.

Mr. George Bliss – III, Chairman, World Plumbing Council and Mr. S.G. Deolalikar, Founder President of IPA, jointly inaugurated the Plumbing Lab, which is the first of its kind in India.  About 2,000 sq. ft. area has been provided by CoEP for the lab.  The lab displays various plumbing systems, working models, products and literature, latest innovations, modern sanitary and bath fittings. One can see the working of modern waterless urinals, cisterns, water treatment plant, pre-plumb system,  siphonic roof drains, backflow preventors and various types of traps and pumps at the Lab. Working models of water conserving flushes and taps are also shown. It also has a variety of manuals on automatic plumbing systems, solar and electric hot water heaters. The lab provides transparent installation of toilets with plumbing fittings, fixtures & piping.  The transparent installation enables one to view the live functioning of plumbing systems including flow of water.

A classroom, for about 20 students, with a library of books and plumbing codes is also part of the plumbing laboratory.
